Mustain to USC?

by user The Beast

We already saw, our USC Trojans make a big splash on signing day. However, even bigger news could be awaiting for the Trojans. Now Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain will visit in the next two weeks with the hope of transferring in the fall.

Last season, Mustain started eight games for the Razorbacks going undefeated as the starter. Casey Dick became the starter late in the season for Arkansas instead of Mustain.

Getting Mustain to transfer to USC be more than just a finishing touch on a recruiting class that was ranked No. 1 by ESPN. Although he said he would leave Arkansas last month, he only recently contacted USC despite his teammate, Damian Williams, transferring here in January.

Coincidentally, USC saved a scholarship just in case Mustain decides to transfer.

Mustain would have to sit out a year if he transfers. He would be dumb to do so.

He will have to compete with Mark Sanchex who will be a redshirt Sophomore this year. When Mustain becomes eligible in 2008, USC will already have Sanchez as a 4th year junior and Aaron Corp who signed yesterday.

Mustain would be able to redshirt during his transfer year, wouldn't he?

Im not sure about this Mustain kid. He has shown to be flaky in the past which making choices. If goes to USC he would have to sit a year because of NC2A rules and they would probly redshirt him. He could become the next Chris Wienke and play at 29

Anyone else notice in the picture that he doesn't throw with the laces?

Could have been a bobbled snap else causing him to rush the pass

And the fact that USC saved a scholarship for him seems awfully sketchy. I thought it was against NCAA rules to lure a player away from his current school. Then again, they're already investigating the McKnight signing and there's the whole Reggie Bush thing, so I wouldn't be all that surprised if there was some shady actions taken to get Mustain.

USC most likely didn't "save" the scholarship for Mustain, they just chose to carry it over to next year. Ohio State is "saving" 5 scholarships for next year when then need more players.

IF HE CAN PLAY I SAY MORE POWER TO SC. REMEMBER SC IS ABOUT COMPETITION, NOBODY HAS A SPOT RESEVRED, IF HE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO START THEN HE WILL SIT, WHICH HE SHOULD.
