Born on October 15, 1896 in Arizona, Louisiana, Mule Watson (John Reaves Watson) played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Braves and New York Giants over the course of his 7 year career. Watson broke into the bigs on July 4, 1918 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 3.37 ERA in 141.2 innings pitched in 1918, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Mule Watson's best season was 1921, when he posted a 3.85 ERA and won 14 games.
