Mule Dowell (Gwynn C. Dowell) was born on June 27, 1913 in Ben Franklin, Texas. Dowell attended Texas Technical University. Dowell made his professional debut in the NFL in 1935 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played for the Chicago Cardinals for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1936 was Mule Dowell's best year.
