More Cheating Allegations Mounting for Patriots

What’s all the nonsense hubbub about this stealing signs shit? Good to know that some NFL teams are working with the mentality of a kindergarten! The list of teams that suspect the New England Patriots of stealing signals is growing daily. A day after the Jets called the Fighting Bills out, the Cheeseheads in Green Bay echoed those same concerns about Belichick and the boys! And to think everybody thought he was the best coach in the league…How quickly we forget his cameo in Cleveland!

Okay, so everybody has cheated in some form in their lifetime…So it shows Coach Sweatshirt is human. Although it’s not like making like a couch potato back in the day playing Tecmo Bowl, or for advance gamers Super Tecmo Bowl…Sneaking a pick at which direction the D-Pad was pressed. Guessing whether the "A" or "B" button was pressed in hopes of recording a sack. Not only have the Jets and Packers spit accusations towards the Foxboro brass, but the Bills and Lions have come out and spit the same thing. Although in Matt Millen’s case, not surprising…Whenever he can get off the hook for a loss he’ll take it!

Actually, when I first heard about the Jets crying foul…I thought it was just that, crybabies calling for their mamas! It didn’t really surprise me…Hell, it’s the Jets and Patriots for God sakes. It gives one that same warm and fuzzy feeling that the dynamic duo as Trump-Cuban does…Or O’Donnell-Trump does. I filed it in the same folder as Mike Hart’s guaranteed victory over Notre Dame on Saturday! However, there’s obviously too much smoke here to disregard these allegations in it’s own right! Where there’s smoke, there’s certainly fire… The evidence is piling up day-by-day and we better believe that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Just ask Ron Mexico and his dawgs about evidence piling up on a daily basis! The telling question that has still yet to be answered, here’s a team that has won three Super Bowls in six years…All of which were three point games I might add! Hmm, I wonder?

Now in the words of Smokey the Bear…"Only you can prevent forest fires!" Well, in essence that’s what Green Bay was trying to do when somebody got a little grouchy...

"From what I can remember, [the camera man] had quite a fit when we took him out," Packers president Bob Harlan said. "We had gotten word before the game that they [the Patriots] did this sort of thing, so we were looking for it."

Now I’m not saying this is right by any stretch…However, the one thing which dumbfounds me, (and a lot of shit does) in baseball stealing signs is part of the game. In basketball, every coach listens for calls from opponents and attaches them to a given play. Hockey, the benches are right next to each other…No secrets there. Then why is it in essence the same act which the Patriots seemingly have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar be not only tolerated in other sports, but to go as far as being labeled "part of the game"? Makes you wonder a little, doesn’t it? I’m not saying there’s nothing wrong with New England’s tactics, because there certainly is…I’m just pointing out an intriguing observation of the "code of ethics" from one sport to another.

Oh yeah, and one more intriguing observation…You know the whole spiel about "Cheaters Never Win". Yeah, well there goes that theory!

Vote in the latest Pick’em poll over on LastRowSports.com which ask "Who has the Better Beer Babes?" Yes, the all important three B’s in conjunction with football season! We guarantee this will put a bigger smile on voters faces resembling the Colgate-Cheshire Cat one Tony Romo always seems to sport when conducting an on-air interview for no apparent reason! Although we’re definitely giving you a reason to show them pearl whites! Well, that is unless you’re gay!

Lastrow, is it your belief that a MLB team caught using telephonic lenses to see what pitch the catcher is calling would not be punished severely by Major League Baseball?

Judging by their track record, yes, that's what I'm saying! How many things has baseball screwed up in the past? They would some how brush it off, just like the whole steroids saga...Turn the other way. Is it right, no, but the MLB for ya

That is a fair response. I don't agree with you, but I think it is a fair response.

There is a big difference between a base runner picking off the signals and having a camera man in the stands with a zoom lenz recording whats happening. That by the way is not legal in baseball. Similarly it is not leagal to sit behind the opposing teams bench in basketball and record their discussions only to reiterate them to your own team.

I'm not condoning any of these childish antics, what I was trying to say is right or wrong everybody cheats at some point.

The notion that this stuff is akin to a baserunner stealing signs is not very strong. Something an athlete does on their own with their eyes is different than some employee on the sideline video taping. But that's assuming that the allegations are true.

I didn't realize that the NFL had a presumption of innocence that had to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. I am pretty sure that the NFL has suspended many a player based solely on arrests. Also, what more needs to be proven? A Patriots employee was caught on the sideline with a video camera in contravention of NFL rules. That much is certain. All that is left is the analysis of his video to see the extent of the rule breaking.

Exactly, the extent of the rule breaking is unknown right now. Until it is known, I don't anyone should be judging anything. The Patriots broke a rule. But it isn't clear as to why and by how much they broke it. Until it is, people shouldn't be jumping to conclusions.

It is clear though that this is at least the second time this has occured. I think I see a pattern developing.

"The Patriots broke a rule." That's what I said two comments up, yet you still say that it's unclear to me that they broke a rule.

What do you mean by "extent of the rule breaking"? They broke the rule that you can't video tape an opposing team. Where's the gray area?

Not to deflect any wrong-doing's away, but the Pats were going to beat the Jets regardless.. If it was the Chargers and it was the same score, then maybe I would be a little more skeptical that the camera actually proved to work.

Everyone keeps talking about a rule being broken. Has anyone actually read the rule to see if it could be subject to an alternate interpretation?
