The win improved the Als' record to 8-6, giving them first place in the CFL East Division, although Toronto (7-6) hosts Calgary (9-5) on Saturday. Winnipeg drops to 7-8.
Duval booted field goals from 34, 46, 23 and 35 yards, added a pair of singles and Robert Edwards ran two yards for his CFL-leading 13th TD of the season. Winnipeg also gave up a safety.
Winnipeg's scoring came off Charles Roberts' one-yard TD run, a 10-yard TD catch by Derick Armstrong and a pair of 43-yard field goals by Troy Westwood.
The Alouettes were leading 23-13 early in the fourth quarter when a pair of turnovers shifted momentum to Winnipeg and the 28,028 fans at Canad Inns Stadium started yelling.
First, Bomber safety Kyries Hebert forced Montreal slotback O'Neil Wilson to fumble with 10 minutes left. Winnipeg linebacker Neil McKinlay recovered at his own 17-yard line, but quarterback Kevin Glenn went two and out.
However, Westwood's punt bounced a couple of times off the hands of Als running back Avon Cobourne and Bomber safety John Sullivan pounced on the ball at Montreal's 43-yard line.
A taunting penalty on Montreal cornerback David Sanchez kept the drive going and Glenn hit Armstrong with a 10-yard TD toss to make it 23-20 with 6:38 remaining.
Calvillo completed 20 of 29 pass attempts for 253 yards. Glenn was 17-of-30 for 166 yards, two TDs and two interceptions.
The Bombers have a bye next week and Montreal hosts Saskatchewan.
Both squads scored on their opening drives, but Winnipeg made it look easy and Montreal did it the hard way.
Glenn marched his team 75 yards in 10 plays, aided by an Alouette illegal contact penalty, and Roberts ran in for his eighth TD of the season.
On the following series, Montreal employed a pair of fakes - on a punt and a field-goal attempt - in a 10-play, 89-yard drive that ended with Edwards' 10th rushing TD at 9:47 of the first quarter.
Montreal led 9-7 after the first quarter following a safety Westwood conceded.
The second quarter featured dropped balls by both teams that couldn't be blamed on frozen fingers in the relatively balmy 14 C temperature.
Duval kicked three field goals, the second one coming after Als linebacker Timothy Strickland intercepted Glenn when he was short on a pass attempt to Roberts.
Westwood made a 44-yard field goal and it was 18-10 for Montreal at halftime.
Montreal led 20-13 after the third quarter following a pair of Duval singles and Westwood field goal. Duval notched a 70-yard punt single and took a 41-yard single off a wide 28-yard field-goal attempt. Sanchez had intercepted Glenn earlier in the drive.
The Alouettes upped their lead to 23-13 just 14 seconds into the fourth quarter when Duval nailed a 35-yarder.
Notes: Als quarterback Anthony Calvillo completed his 3,385th pass during the game, moving him ahead of Ron Lancaster for third place on the CFL all-time completions list ...Winnipeg has only scored 28 points in the third quarter during its 15 games this season.
