[edit] Biography

Born on September 2, 1908 in Oakland, California, Monte Pearson (Montgomery Marcellus Pearson) played for the Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 10 year career. Pearson broke into the bigs on April 22, 1932 with the Cleveland Indians, and put up a 2.33 ERA in 135.1 innings pitched in 1933, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Monte Pearson's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1936, when he posted a 3.71 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 118 batters. However, others believe that it was 1934, when he posted a 4.52 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 140 batters.
