A notice to all readers:
DO NOT USE MY PICKS TO BET MONEY!
Why is this? Not because it is illegal and I can get in trouble, but because my picks have been terrible and I don’t want you hunting me down for a refund.
Again…it was another week of craziness in the “Noodle Flipper League”. I am so tired of picking games because the stupid teams that shouldn’t win continue to win.
Upset of the weekend: San Diego 23, Indianapolis 21
Did anyone watch this past the 1 st Quarter? I did. And it got better, I promise.
I guess you can’t really call it an upset since the Chargers are supposedly good, but really, to set Peyton’s career record of Interceptions in a game was pretty solid. I still don’t see the Chargers as a real Contender yet (except in their own division) but they proved they could “hang with the big boys”.Per ESPN Manning’s Night garnered the:
· Most INTs by a quarterback since Chris Chandler Dec. 12, 2004.
· Most by a QB in the NFL this season.
· Most by a Colts QB in franchise history.
• More than four NFL teams have this season (Pats, Jags, Eagles, Bucs).
I don’t see this as being any sort of issue or a sight of what is to come, it ws a bad day by a team who traveled with only 6 extra players for the Offense and lost 3 players throughout the game. When they get their starters back, they should be fine.
Players of the game:
San Diego:
Antonio Cromartie : 6 tackles and 3 INTs
Darren Sproles : 170 Return yards and 2 TDs, including one on the opening kickoff.
Indianapolis:
Clint Session : Filled in for the injury depleted LB core: 3 Tackles and 2 INTs.
Reggie Wayne : 10 REC, 140 Yards and 1 TD
In the “not-so-much-an-upset-as-it-is-surprising” category:
' St. Louis 37, New Orleans 29
Was the “sleeping giant” awoken? I don’t think so. But they finally stepped up and took advantage of the weaknesses that New Orleans has shown all season.
Another game I figured would go the other way. Denver’s Defense finally stepped it up and not even Brodie Croyle could save the Chiefs.
Play call of the game: When Brandon Marshall got a fist to the groin and the announce team couldn’t say anything including the words: crotch, groin, manhood, etc. and they kept eluding to what we all knew. My prayers are with you Brandon.
Nice job Shayne Graham : 7 of 7 on Field Goal attempts. Just goes to show that the Ravens D is still ALIVE…just not breathing very well…
Where the heck did the GB run came come from? And where did the MIN Defense go? We should know more about Adrian Peterson's knee today.
This was not a big game nor did it make a difference, but did anyone expect the struggling Arizona Defense to hold Detroit to -18 yards rushing? No that is not a typo…NEGATIVE 18 YARDS.
And my biggest disappointment of the weekend: Jacksonville 28, Tennessee 13
This was a disappointment because the Tennessee Defense was number one this season against the run. They had not allowed a 100-yard-rusher all season. Then they did. And they lost.
Even though the stats may say differently, JAX QB Quinn Gray outplayed TEN QB Vince Young.
Gray had 101 yards and 1 touchdown. He did exactly what a backup Quarterback is asked to do: NOT LOSE THE GAME.
Young on the other hand threw for 257 yards on only 58.5% passing with 1 TD and 2 INTs. This is what a QB should not do. He needs to pick up his game or he will be on the hot seat.
How about that Maurice Jones-Drew? Man…and to think a few weeks ago they thought he might be out the rest of the season.
Until next week!
