Surprise of the weekend:
Green Bay beats San Diego.
This may not surprise a lot THIS YEAR…but if you had said last season that the Pack would have beat the Superchargers, I would have laughed in your face. And the Chargers are 1-2? Understanding that they lost to New England, who is “En Fuego”…but LT has 130 yards in the 3 games (AVG 43.3 per game). This isn’t normal, and unfortunately doesn’t look like the pain for the Chargers is over.
I was on the Norv Turner sideline. I mean, hell, Switzer won a Super Bowl when the table was set, why couldn’t Turner? But now…looks like he needs a lesson on how to call plays. LT needs more then 57 carries in 3 weeks.
I want to say that the Packers look really good this year, though. They have a great defense and their offense is clicking better then it has in years. They are scary.
In the “not-so-much-an-upset-as-it-is-surprising” category :
Indy over Houston: 30-24. Only a surprise because it looked for a while like Schaub may be able to pull this out even when missing Andre Johnson.
Philadelphia over Detroit: 56-21. There is the sleeping giant we all knew was there. Is it just me or does McNabb play better angry?
Tampa Bay: 24…St. Louis 3. Greatest Show on Turf Re-Mix my ass.
Seattle beats Cincy and keeps the total score under 50. Maybe the Seahawks D is better then people give them credit for.
Chicago Defense can’t stop Romo. Doesn’t help when your QB is working for them as well.
And my biggest disappointment of the weekend:
Baltimore gave up 23 points to Kurt Warner and the Cardinals.
Again, this is why the Ravens are no longer the top Defense in the league. They were playing well for the first 3 quarters but (CLICHÉ ALERT!!) a game is 4 quarters long. They pulled out the win, but to let the anemic Offense of the Cardinals score 17 in the 4 th quarter is not the Ravens D we are used to seeing.
I know this isn’t much of a disappointment, but since there was no huge upset this week…I needed something.
Pick update (Spread):
9/15 with Tennessee to cover tonight. (NO -4.5)
