On Sunday Afternoon at American Airlines Center, the Dallas Stars defeated the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 in Overtime. With the win, the Stars started a winning streak and maintained kept pace with the San Jose Sharks, both tied for 5th place in the West with 85 points.

After LA scored the initial goal of the game, the Stars scored the next two goals, giving the home team a 2-1 leads after 20 minutes of play.

After a scoreless second period, the Kings tied the game up early in the third, making it a 2-2 game. The Stars would take the lead with a goal, making it 3-2, but the Kings tied to game again at 3-3.

After neither team was able to grab the lead before regulation ended, Mike Modano scored the game winner in OT, as he went from end to end and beat Kings Goaltender Sean Burke with a wrister, ending the game.

Notes:

Offensive Explosion:

With 4 goals scored in Sunday's game, the Stars scored scored 4 goals for the first time in nine games played and the first time scoring 4 goals in the month of March.

If the Stars want to keep some positivity going for the playoffs, they need to maintain this scoring pace.

Modano's one away:

With his Game Winning Goal in Sunday's Game, Modano is now one goal away from 500 goals and three away from tying Joe Mullen's record for the most goals scored in the NHL by an American Born Player.

For those looking for a prediction on when Modano will reach 500 Goals, quicker rather then later would be a good bet, as he has scored three goals in his last five games and the Stars play Philadelphia on Tuesday, the worst team in the NHL in terms of goals allowed.

Goalie Situation:

For the last two games, Marty Turco has shown moments of brilliance and has struggled as well.

On Friday, he shutout the Blue Jackets.

On Sunday, he needed Mike Modano to win the game in OT, as he couldn't hold two leads, including one in the 3rd period.

Norstrom's Day To Day:

Another Injury to add to the Stars long list, as Mattias Norstrom was scratched on Sunday after suffering an injury on Friday Night, playing less then 2 minutes against the Blue Jackets.

If the Stars wanted to be a Defensive Powerhouse in the Playoffs, Norstrom's re-insertion into the lineup is crucial.

Stars and Flyers on Tuesday, could be an offensive explosion or another sloppy game.....
