Boston Red Sox 14 -- Cleveland Indians 9
Little reference to "In Living Color" with a twist! Last night was definitely the Manny Ramirez and Wily-Mo show in "Tribe Town". And boy did they put on a show! Manny Ramirez continues to be on a relentless tear since the All-Star Break. It's like a switch turned on and bam! back to Manny BEING Manny.
Wily-Mo had a career night! All this talk of him being traded and underdevelopment must have finally got to him. He showed us what he really is capable of doing and becoming. True one night doesn't make a player but the kid is only 25 years old. He needs time to play and to develop. He may not get that shot in Boston. But it would suck to send him away and see him become an all-star. I now the Red Sox Management struggles with the decision.
Kason Gabbard had a good night up until the fifth inning where it seemed all his wheels fell off. Not good when your trying to stay in the rotation. Especially with Curt Schilling looming around and destroying Triple-A games. Which by the way did anyone see the story for that game last night!

Kason had some adversity and frankly you need it some time to ground you a bit and put things in perspective. Our old Friend Julian Tavarez got the win (WOW!) but also let up 4 runs , 2 hits, and a homer! D'OH!
But the story was truly the offense, after two nights of quiet bats they erupted and exploded! Not only did Manny and Wily Mo light it up. Mike Lowell also continued to dominate the RBI category with 2 more and he chipped in with 3 hits. Jason Varitek and Coco Crisp chipped in with two hits and two RBI's a piece as well. All the Red Sox starting lineup had a hit (17 total)except Kevin Youkilis but he even ended up on base and scoring 2 runs.
The Red Sox gained a game back on the Yankees to extend their lead to 7.5 games over the Bombers. They start a 3-game road trip tonight against Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field. The Devil Ray's are 23.5 games behind the Red Sox and have been a dismal 3-7 in there last ten games. The Yanks start a series with a hot Baltimore Orioles team that has a 7-3 record in there last 10 games. So hopefully the Red Sox can gain a few this weekend and extend that lead in the AL East.
Late breaking edit: Julio Lugo also got a hit today, making his hitting streak a 15 gamer, which broke his career record of 14.
