Tonight the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be heading into Ivor Wynne Stadium to face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Most of the fans will be following the progress of SB Milt Stegall. As of tonight, Stegall is just four touchdowns catches shy of tying the all-time record of 137.
In Stegall's 12-year career in the CFL, he has only had two games where he has caught four touchdown passes in a single game.
Milt is sometimes called the cockiest guy in football, and that is saying a lot compared to his contemporaries in the NFL. But, unlike some of the un-named cocky players south of the border, Milt is loved by his team.
"Man, he is getting so concieted lately," said his good friend, Edmonton DB Shannon Garrett. "In old age, he's getting concieted. I saw him on TV the other day, and he said, 'It is getting hard looking this pretty on on TV.'"
"Can you believe that? But Milt's still a great guy. He's just having fun."
But Milt has the portfolio to back up the boasting. At 36-years old, Stegall is leading the CFL with 39 catches for 694 yards, a 17.8 average, with 4 touchdowns this season.
Milt has never had a drink of liquor. EVER. He will only drink water or non-fermented grape juice.
In Stegall's daily routine, he will do 500-750 push-ups and situps per day.
Tonight will be Stegall's 163rd game in the CFL. His all-time statistics are: 716 catches for 13,012 yards and 133 touchdowns. (If these were NFL stats, he would be tied for 21st in receptions, 7th in yards, and 2nd in touchdowns.)
