As the hometown to one of The Foul Pole's founders, we found this appropriate. The Schaumburg Flyers, of the Northern League, have teamed up with MSN to allow fans to manage the team for the second half of the season.
The project will be called "Fan Club" and is similar to something that Bill Veeck did in 1951 with Grandstand Managers Day. Fans will be able to vote on what the manager should do next, such as warm up a certain pitcher, bunt, or steal a base.
Fan Club will start next month as the Flyers make a playoff push in the Northern League. They are currently 17-8.
You may remember the Flyers, since they are the team that recently traded Budweiser's Leon (actual name is Nigel Thatch) to the Fullerton (CA.) Flyers for 60 cases of Budweiser. Thatch recently held out, in true Leon fashion.
