Scoring started in the first with a walk to Orlando Cabrera followed by back-to-back singles by Vladimir Guerrero and Garret Anderson which scored Cabrera. Angels leading 0-1.
Third Inning:
The Twins got things started in the third with a single by Tony Batista. Then with a 1-0 count to Juan Castro, John Lackey threw a wild pitch that got by Molina and Batista advanced to second. The next pitch, Molina could not handle either and Batista moved to third on the passed ball. With all the wildness, Lackey still managed to strike out Castro, but a sacrifice fly by Jason Kubel scored Batista to get the Twins on the board. Game tied 1-1.
Fourth Inning:
With two outs in the 4th, Michael Cuddyer hit his 7th home run of the season to put the Twins up by a run. Justin Morneau followed with his 8th double and on a 3-2 pitch, Rondell White lined a single to right that drove Morneau home to make it 3-1 Minnesota. 3-1 Twins.
Fifth Inning:
The Angels got one back in the 5th when Cabrera hit his 14th double of the year and Anderson drove him home with a line drive single to center. 3-2 Twins.
Eighth Inning:
Juan Rincon started the 8th and seemed to be sailing through the inning striking out Tim Salmon and retiring McPherson on a grounder to first, but he then walked Jose Molina in an 8 pitch battle. The Angels brought in Tommy Murphy to pinch run, and on a 1-2 pitch, Adam Kennedy hit a grounder to short that Castro grabbed but Morneau could not handle the throw. With runners on first and second, Chone Figgins nailed a line drive off the glove of Luis Castillo driving in Murphy, tying the game at 3.
Cabrera came to the plate with runners on the corners and drove the count to 3-2 before grounding to Batista at third for the final out. Game tied 3-3.
Eleventh Inning:
Figgins led off the 11th with a single to center. Then with the count 0-2 Jesse Crain who relieved Rincon in the 9th, tried to pick him off of first and threw in the dirt. With the ball skipping past Morneau, Figgins went all the way to third. That's where he stood when Orlando Cabrera knocked him in with a game winning single into left field. The victory was the Angels' first in extra innings this year and the first loss by Twins in extras. Angels win 3-4.
