The Minnesota Twins completed their first ever four game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles in easy fashion, winning 11-3 yesterday in Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
The Minnesota Twins ended Erik Bedard's nine game win streak, earned their first ever four game sweep over the Orioles, and tied their season high five game win streak, all on the same day. The Twins offense looks to be back in full swing, getting help in their batting order from top to bottom. This is the same team that won their fourth division title in five years, by getting late inning rallies, playing good heads up baseball, great defense, getting help from their pitching rotation, and manufacturing runs with heads up base running, and key hits.
That is what Minnesota has done in the past five days as well. Getting late inning rallies in the first two games of the series, then getting an early lead in the last two games, and holding on to win in convincing fashion. The Twins offense got key hits when needed, laying down near perfect bunts, and for the most part good base running. The Twins also scored on productive outs with sacrifice flies from Justin Morneau in the first inning, Nick Punto in the sixth inning, and Mike Redmond in the ninth inning. This is exactly how the Minnesota Twins won so many ball games last year in their post season run.
Highlights for the Twins yesterday offensively were: Alexi Casilla going 0 for 4 with one walk, and scored twice. Jason Bartlett 2 for 5, with two triples, one of his triples scoring two runs. Torii Hunter 2 for 5, with one RBI, a double, a stolen base, and scored twice. Justin Morneau was 1 for 4 with a sacrifice fly RBI, a double, and scored once. Michael Cuddyer 2 for 3, with a double, and scored twice. Mike Redmond 1 for 3 with two RBI, one being a sacrifice out. Rondell White 2 for 5 with a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning off Rob Bell. Jason Tyner 3 for 5, scoring once, and finally Nick Punto went one for three, scored once, and had a sacrifice fly RBI. Yesterday was a total offensive assist all around. Everyone in the line up either hit, scored and RBI or two, or found a way to round the bases and score, to help the Twins win 11-3. Minnesota's offense stranded seven runners all game, and only one in scoring position.
Defensively for the Twins, Scott Baker who is celebrating the birth of his second child, made it back to the ball park in time to pitch Sunday. Baker did a really good job, pitching seven innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits, striking out none, while walking only one. Then Carmon Cali pitched a no run, no hit, one walk seventh inning, while Juan Rincon pitched a no run, two hit, eighth inning, and Julio DePaula, pitched a no run, no hit, one strike out ninth inning, to end the game, helping the Twins to their fifth consecutive game.
The Twins now travel to Cleveland for a playoff implicated three game series with the division leading Indians. Carlos Silva will be on the mound for the Twins in game one, as they go for their sixth consecutive win, and their third consecutive win at Jacobs Field. The last time the Twins were in Jacobs field, they won the last two games of the series. Minnesota needs to win this series, if not sweep the Indians, to creep closer to the Indians in the division race. The Twins are 4-0 on this seven game road trip.
KEEP ON ROLLING TWINS!!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!!!!!!!
