Football fans know that the doubleheader in week 1 of the NFL season on ESPN will feature the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers. With Mike Tirico and crew covering the Bengals and the Ravens in the opening game, the backup crew, is get this, Mike Greenberg, Mike Golic, and Mike Ditka, with Bonnie Bernstein as the reporter. Come on ESPN, a radio duo calling a professional football game? I guess if Tony Kornheiser can do it, so can they. Mike and Mike have done the Spelling Bee and Arena Football, and now they are doing the NFL. I think it's a bad idea, what is your opinion on this story?

Football Outsiders had only good things to say about Greenberg and Golic during the Arena games, so I'm willing to give them a chance. I'd want Ditka nowhere near it, tho.

Well considering the Cards & 9ers may put up a clunker of a game and neither of these teams is from New York, Greenberg may be very confused, bored and stupified...this is nothing new for him...

Everytime Mike and Mike are on they play faggy music-- what's up with that? So during the game we are going to decide which fag music belongs to the Cardinals?? Bad idea-- I think Jay Mariotti should get the job

I love Mike and Mike and will solely watch this game because they are in the booth. I could care less about the game. Great desicion by ESPN.

I think there are so few good football commentator teams, they might as well give them a try. I'm not sure about adding Ditka, though, since Mike and Mike already have an established chemistry.

Greenberg has loads of TV experience. He does Sportscenter. He would be fine doing play by play. Golic was miffed that he didn't get picked originally over Kornheiser. He is an ex-player and has TV experience, so he fits the bill. Ditka gives them an added jolt of personality. I think it'll be good.

I think their commentary is good AS LONG AS THEY STAY ON TRACK They are best suited for games that are blowouts because they are great at filling airtime when not much is going on. THey may not be the best play by play guys. But they are knowledgeble and have great banter when going back and forth. As for Mike Ditka, I think they could do better but the NFL probably got that idea from the Mike and Mike commercial that constantly airs on sc

I think they are incredibly boring to listen to. As a sports fan today we all have a pretty good idea of what is going on. Im glad Madden is out because he had the approach that everyone watching was mentally handicapped and didn't know what was going on. Mike and Mike have a great morning show but they they have no emotion and are probably the worst announcers i have heard on Monday night in awhile. Someone amusing is all I want, we all know the game. Give up some good facts and some humor and we are set.
