I think its great that the New York Mets decided to let Mike Francesa and Chris Russ (the "Mad Dog"), the hosts of the popular Mike and Mad Dog show on WFAN, do the play by play broadcast for today's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Its great to hear new voices doing the play-by-play. New perspectives, new commentary, and new ideas. What is there not to like?
This makes me think: How long will it be until average joes begin doing play-by-play broadcasts of sports events and then syndicating them using podcasting techologies?
Wouldn't it be nice for the fans to chose what broadcaster they wanted to listen to. The spectrum of possibilities are endless. If you wanted a funny broadcaster, you could stream it in. If you wanted to hear a mets game from a woman's perspective, you could stream it in. How about a broadcast in Spanish, French? Russian? I am sure those will soon be available too.
