Mike Murphy (Michael William Murphy) was born on January 14, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri. After going to high school at St. Mary (St. Louis, MO), Murphy attended Southwest Missouri State University. Murphy made his professional debut in the NFL in 1979 with the Houston Oilers. He played for the Houston Oilers for his entire 1 year career.
