Born on August 27, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio, Mike Maddux (Michael Ausley Maddux) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners, Montreal Expos and Houston Astros over the course of his 15 year career. Maddux broke into the bigs on June 3, 1986 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 5.42 ERA in 78 innings pitched in 1986, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Mike Maddux's best season was 1991, when he posted a 2.46 ERA and struck out 57 batters.

Current pitching coach of the Milwaukee Brewers, Maddux is the older brother of San Diego Padres pitcher Greg Maddux.
