Mike Hargrove (Dudley Michael Hargrove) was born on October 26, 1949 in Perryton, Texas. He made his Major League debut on April 7, 1974 for the Texas Rangers. In 1974, his rookie year, he hit .323 with 4 home runs and 66 RBI. Hargrove played for the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 12 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Mike Hargrove's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1977, when he slugged 18 home runs, hit for a .305 average and knocked in 69 runs. However, others believe that it was 1980, when he hit for a .304 average and knocked in 85 runs.
