Born on January 18, 1932 in Havana, Cuba, Mike Fornieles (Jose Miguel (Torres) Fornieles) played for the Washington Senators, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins over the course of his 12 year career. Fornieles broke into the bigs on September 2, 1952 with the Washington Senators, and put up a 3.59 ERA in 153 innings pitched in 1953, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Mike Fornieles's best season was 1960, when he posted a 2.64 ERA, won 10 games, notched 14 saves and struck out 64 batters.
