Mike Fanning (Michael LaVern Fanning) was born on February 2, 1953 in Mount Clemens, Michigan. After going to high school at Edison (Tulsa, OK), Fanning attended the University of Notre Dame. Fanning made his professional debut in the NFL in 1975 with the Los Angeles Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that 1984 was Mike Fanning's best year, as he recorded 7 sacks.
