Mike Champion (Robert Michael Champion) was born on February 10, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama. He made his Major League debut on September 14, 1976 for the San Diego Padres. In 1977, his rookie year, he hit .229 with 1 home run and 43 RBI. Champion played for the San Diego Padres for his entire 3 year career.
