That's awesome. I like to see that kind of effort. Lots of people, fielders, pitchers and batters alike, get lazy on an IBB. Glad to see someone making that kind of effort on a ball that's comletely hittable, instead of just conceding the walk.

The only player being lazy there was the pitcher, who made a terrible pitch. Everyone else seemed to play it properly.

Keith Hernandez did this once. I think he actually threw the bat at the ball, but was called out for stepping on the plate.

Actually, I think you are thinking of Mr. Baseball. You're just confused because of the mustches.  ;)

I aslo like the heads up play by the runner on second. Way to have your head in the game and be paying attention.

What if Cabrera had hit the ball and it was caught by a fielder? Then he cost the team by not taking the intentional walk? Or worse, what if he had swung and missed, which would have made him look like a complete fool?

I guess you just have to have confidence that when a pitcher throws a lolipop over the plate you can drive it for a single. That pitcher should be sent down immediately. How terrible. Miguel Cabrera will be one of the top 5 players in this league for a long time!!!

I thought the same thing. It was a great play and pretty amusing, but if he screwed that up we'd all be singing a different tune today.

But none of those things happened. Why concern yourself with "what-ifs"?

That's great stuff. I guarantee not a single guy on defense was ready for that. They're lucky Cabrera only got a single out of it.

Imagine if Bonds had done this like every few times he got IBBed.

Awesome. Quite a contrast to Bonds who is always taking off his body armor by the third pitch.

"Imagine if Bonds had done this like every few times he got IBBed." Imagine how great a world it would be if, since Ball-less Bud Selig won't do anything about Bonds, every single time Bonds came to the plate, he got IBBed. Or better, thrown at. Go Russ Springer!
