Michigan Loss Stunning

I sat down yesterday looking forward to watching my favorite team in what seemed to be a national championship caliber team. By the end of the game I was in utter disbelief. Appalachian State was supposed to come into the Big House, take their beating, and go home. Michigan seemed to finally break away when Mike Hart broke loose for a 54 yard touchdown run in what could be one of the top plays of the year. With Michigan already ahead 32-31, Brandent Englemon interception seemed to seal the deal. But, once again Michigan could not capitalize as Michigan had the first of its two field goals blocked.
Edwards marched his Mountaineers down the field for Rauch to kick what they hoped to be the game winning field goal to go ahead 34-32. Even with less than a minute on the clock, I still clung to hope that Manningham could break loose and the two Heisman hopefulls could connect for a big play. And thats exactly what they did, as Henned threw a 46 yard pass to Manningham to set up a game winning field goal. But once again the kick was blocked as Crable missed his blocking assignment.
I cannot imagine what Hart, Henne, Long, and Carr are thinking as they put off both the NFL and retirement to return for this promising year. They can only hope to win out, win the Big Ten, and win a BCS bowl game to somewhat assuage the sour taste of such a stunning defeat.
