[1] Getting this win is great. Winning against the Marlins 7-2, is helpful. Now confidence is near, and coming back.
Slumping wasn't helpful, but hopefully it ended. Getting swept, and losing the next series. Those were horrible, did the Mets turn around?
New York Mets' pitcher Oliver Perez was good. He pitched 8 innings, with 8 strike outs. This play should continue, because competition is near. Being 15-9 on the season, he might get better. "That's as good as it gets an outstanding job of stepping up," Willie Randolph said. "It just goes to show, when Ollie is throwing strikes and trusts his stuff, how good a pitcher he can be."
Ramon Castro played the best. Going 2-4 with 1 home run, and 3 RBI's. He was valuable for the Mets.
First inning, David Wright singled and Jose Reyes scored. Hanley Ramirez throwing error, got Wright to score. The Mets lead 2-0.
Top of the fourth. Ramon Castro homered, Shawn Green and Carlos Beltran scored. The Mets added on 5-0.
Miguel Cabrera hit a sacrifice fly, and Dan Uggla scored. The Marlins were down in the fourth, 5-1.
Seventh inning, Carlos Delgado walked with bases loaded. Wright scored, the Mets were up 6-1.
Luis Castillo singled to shortstop, and Castro scored. The Mets pulled away, 7-1.
The Marlins lost, 7-2. It was expected, they're young. The Mets fans outnumbered the Marlin fans, in Miami. "It's a good feeling when the Mets fans outnumber the Marlins fans," Wright said. "It's kind of our home away from home." Horrible front office, changes need to be made.
It's great for the Mets, because it builds them up. The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies won, it's important for the Mets.
"It's a great feeling when you go on the road and have so many fans pulling for you," said Beltran. Yeah, it's great, but don't get too happy. The race isn't over, and the Mets should have swept. But it wasn't hard, and it's better then nothing.
"Sometimes when you get one win, it seems like three," Randolph said. "That's the way it feels right now, because they're all huge." Correct, because it's still a fight. The Phillies win against the Washington Nationals, smells competition for the Mets. Every game is important, it shouldn't be this way. But it gets them ready for playoff time.
The magic number is 7, the Mets are closer. Another easy win against the Marlins, it's expected Sunday. The Phillies are 2 games back, and the Braves are 5. The Mets have room, make use of it!
