Born on January 19, 1903 in Santa Fe, Ohio, Merle Settlemire (Edgar Merle Settlemire) played for the Boston Red Sox for his entire 1 year career. Settlemire broke into the bigs on April 13, 1928 with the Boston Red Sox, and put up a 5.47 ERA in 82.1 innings pitched in 1928, his rookie year.
