Merle Hapes (Merle Hapes) was born on May 9, 1919 in Garden Grove, California. After going to high school at Garden Grove (CA), Hapes attended the University of Mississippi. Hapes made his professional debut in the NFL in 1942 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants for his entire 2 year career.
