Since his appearance the 2007 NBA All Star game, many people were wondering what happened to [[Utah Jazz center Mehmet Okur.
His stats took a nose dive through the rest of the season, the playoffs and into this season. He was out on Friday's game against the LA Lakers with back spasm.
But Memo returned to form last night, helping the Jazz beat the Miami Heat, 110--101.
Memo's secret? Taking his defender, Shaquille O'Neal to the outside. That neutralized the "Big Fella", allowing Okur to go 4 for 5 from outside. He led the Jazz in scoring, with 25 points, 6 rebounds and added a block and steal.
O'Neal played limited minutes due to foul trouble, and only had twelve minutes on the night.
The Heat were lead by Dwayne Wade who had 26 points for the night and 10 assists. The Jazz were lucky that Wade had an awful night from the free throw line, shooting 6-12. That was really the deciding factor in last night's game and what gave the Jazz the win.
The game was very close, and the Jazz took the lead at the end of the third period.
The Heat had six players scoring in double figures. Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams both scored 24 each, and respectively added 15 rebounds and 15 assists.
My favorite part of this game is that the Jazz have established their new backup point guard--Andrei Kirilenko.
With his rants, crying and trade demands, Kirilenko made for an awful season. To his and Jazz coach Jerry Sloan's credit, they've resolved their differences. AK-47 is now much more involved in the offense, tonight getting 9 assists. For the season, he's averaging close to six a game.
