Born on March 26, 1942 in Johnson City, New York, Mel Queen (Melvin Douglas Queen) played for the Cincinnati Reds and California Angels over the course of his 9 year career. Queen broke into the bigs on April 13, 1964 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 2.76 ERA in 195.2 innings pitched in 1967, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Mel Queen's best season was 1967, when he posted a 2.76 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 154 batters.
