Born on March 20, 1890 in Albany, New York, Mellie Wolfgang (Meldon John Wolfgang) played for the Chicago White Sox for his entire 5 year career. Wolfgang broke into the bigs on April 18, 1914 with the Chicago White Sox, and put up a 1.89 ERA in 119.1 innings pitched in 1914, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Mellie Wolfgang's best season was 1914, when he posted a 1.89 ERA and struck out 50 batters.
