Born on February 15, 1966 in San Cristobal, San Cristobal (Dominican Republic), Melido Perez (Melido Turpen Gross Perez) played for the Kansas City Royals, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees over the course of his 9 year career. Perez broke into the bigs on September 4, 1987 with the Kansas City Royals, and put up a 3.79 ERA in 197 innings pitched in 1988, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Melido Perez's best season was 1992, when he posted a 2.87 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 218 batters.
