Born on May 11, 1928 in Manila, Arkansas, Mel Wright (Melvin James Wright) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 4 year career. Wright broke into the bigs on April 17, 1954 with the St. Louis Cardinals.
