Mel Simons (Melbern Ellis Simons) was born on July 1, 1900 in Carlyle, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on April 14, 1931 for the Chicago White Sox. In 1931, his rookie year, he hit .275 with 0 home runs and 12 RBI. Simons played for the Chicago White Sox for his entire 2 year career.
