[edit] Biography

Born on December 10, 1966 in Haina, Distrito Nacional (Dominican Republic), Mel Rojas (Melquiades (Medrano) Rojas) played for the Montreal Expos, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 10 year career. Rojas broke into the bigs on August 1, 1990 with the Montreal Expos, and put up a 1.43 ERA in 100.2 innings pitched in 1992, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Mel Rojas's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1996, when he posted a 3.22 ERA, notched 36 saves and struck out 92 batters. However, others believe that it was 1992, when he posted a 1.43 ERA, notched 10 saves and struck out 70 batters.
