Mel Pittman (Melvin O. Pittman) was born on February 23, 1908 in Abilene, Texas. After going to high school at Big Spring (TX), Pittman attended Hardin-Simmons University. Pittman made his professional debut in the NFL in 1935 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for his entire 1 year career.
