Mel Baker (Melvin Clyde Baker) was born on August 12, 1950 in Beaumont, Texas. After going to high school at Houston (TX), Baker attended Texas Southern University. Baker made his professional debut in the NFL in 1974 with the Miami Dolphins. He played for the Houston Oilers, San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins over the course of his 3 year career.
Most people believe that 1974 was Mel Baker's best year.
