This is the fifth edition of the Meet the Users series. In each version, I will be interviewing a particular ArmchairGM user. This will allow all users to know each other better. The fourth edition goes to Oh No Romo
1. How did you learn about Armchair? Once upon a time, in a far away place (Iowa), I opened up the inbox of my Yahoo! E-Mail and saw an e-mail from Dan Lewis. I opened it, he wrote that he was impressed with my blog and he wanted me to join this site. Naturally, I hesitated. But I decided, what the hey, I love to write so let's give it a go. I had never heard of the site before, but I was very impressed.
2. What is your favorite feature? That's a tough one. I definitely like the Caption Contests and the Alternative Title game. I must say, I dread the day my name pops up for the title game, might be interesting.
3. Many guys like baseball, others like football, and some like basketball. Of all the major sports which is your favorite? All three are my favorite. I like football because, well who doesn't like football. I like basketball because I know quite a bit about the sport, I played (junior) varsity basketball, so I do have an understanding of the game. Plus, I'm from Chicago, I am forever in a feud with White Sox fans.
4. Can Northwestern ever be good at major college sports, football or basketball? Ha, next thing you're going to ask me is if the Cubs will win the World Series, right? I love Northwestern, if my parents won the Powerball, I'd be there right now. They're a great academic school and that's what it should be all about. Learning is the primary reason to go to college (girls are second). It's so hard to get into a school like that. I'm always happy to see Northwestern succeed. I can never jeer Northwestern, I'm a Wildcat at heart. (I'm also a Knight but I'm not sure how that fits into the equation)
5. It has been 99 years since the Cubs won a World Series. Can they do it this year? Crap, I knew that question was coming....I don't know if they can win the World Series or not, I'm not Miss Cleo ('Mon). To see them in the playoffs is a success in my eyes. I never expected them to get 80 wins. I need a reason to believe they'll go far in the playoffs (If they make it). I don't care if they lose, just don't call them lovable. (Frank Chance would beat anybody over the head with a bat if he heard someone say that). Can they win the Series, yes they CAN. Will they, now that's another question. I can only hope. But hope doesn't get a geek to first base and it won't give the Cubs a World Series ring.
