1. How did you learn about ArmchairGM?

I learned about ArmchairGM when DNL emailed me. He saw my blog on Blogspot (I still can't get over how he landed on mine when there are bajillions of blogs on there) and invited me to post on the Chair.

2. ArmchairGM allows users to rate various players, stadiums, cities, fight songs, etc. What do you enjoy rating the most?

I liked rating the players, it's always fun to rate players like a movie. We just watch them and tell everyone how good we think they are. It's so simple. I love giving one stars to players I hate, that's the best. Some of the other ratings are tough because I haven't been to nearly enough cities or stadiums, or heard enough fight songs to judge them all.

3. With the addition of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, how will the Celtics finish in 2008?

See, this is tough, because I'm not much of an NBA person. But this trade has me more excited for Celtics basketball than I have ever been, so the fact that it just has me excited is an accomplishment. As far as how they will do in 2008, I think they can get to the Eastern Conference finals. I am drinking the Green Kool Aid all the way, but I have to think someone's gonna get hurt or Doc Rivers' head is going to explode because he doesn't know how to deal with this much talent.

4. Personally, I think that Tom Brady is a system QB and is extremely overated. I think that if Brady and Joey Harrington swapped pasts that he, not Harrington would have been the bust. Being a Pats fan, do you agree or disagree with me?

I agree with you to an extent. Brady had the benefit of learning from a veteran for one year, having an excellent offensive coordinator in Charlie Weis, great ownership and a Hall of Fame coach in Bill Belichick. If you're looking strictly from the top, he had and still has a tremendous advantage. But his intangibles, intelligence and work ethic are matched by few. He has developed as a passer over the course of his career, improving every year, which you can't say about Joey Harrington. There comes a point where a quarterback has to overcome what's given him and perform. Comparing him to Harrington is ridiculous. Harrington doesn't have anywhere close to the leadership skills and intangibles Brady has. If he did, he wouldn't be on his 3rd NFL team.

5. You are one of the few female users at ArmchairGM. Do you think that this helps or hurts you in anyway? Would you like to see more active female users?

I don't think it helps or hurts. If anything, it helps a little bit. I feel like all of my stuff written on here has been well-received and I've gotten a lot of respect, which I definitely appreciate. In person, sometimes the guys can dominate me when we talk about sports, but here, I have time to think about what I have to say and and research it. It's not the greatest feeling when I see "Hottest Female Tennis Players" on the front page, but it's a great feeling to see "10 Hottest American MLB Players" on the front page. I would like to see more female users; I think a lot of us have opinions just as strong as the men, and could voice them just as effectively if we put time into it. This has been a great outlet for me to write and, more importantly, have my stuff get read by you guys. It's been a blast, and, quite frankly, addictive.

West Coast offense is meant for teams with a crappy RB, no? Short passes to get 1st downs in lue of a running game. That's how the 49ers did it all those years. That's why the Falcons hiring Jim Mora (who likes the West Coast offense) never made any sense to me.

Holmgren runs a WC...he doesn't have a crappy RB...Reid does too...B-West is a pretty good RB...

Earl Cooper was the 9ers RB at the time...he was ok...

Cooper was in there early as well and he sucked too. So Reid and Holmgren can't really be used as examples because they learned the WC offense under successful teams. I think Marino would've won a few championships with the WC offense.

We have a similar problem at school with chess. There's one girl player, who constantly moans there are no more, and wants something to be done about it. Since I'm in such a position where I can, I put her in charge of getting more girls to play. This has lots of effects:
  • It gets more girls playing, potentially - which will make her happy
  • It stops her complaining at me - which makes the day quieter
  • It saves me a job and hassle

The word I use, whilst smiling smugly, is "Result". :)

Perhaps you could relieve DNL of this job in a similar way?

I almost did a spit take when I saw that Brady-Harrington comparison. The difference between the two players is like night and day, and it's not the systems, nor is it physical ability. It's football IQ -- Brady has it in spades, while Harrington is badly lacking in that department.
