Media Can't Make Up Its Mind

I am blown away by how the entire media has butchered this Peyton Manning winning a big game thing. For the last five years or so, they have been on Peyton's back for not winning the big one. I mean, would not leave the guy alone about it. Now that he is just playing in the Super Bowl, not even winning the damn game, and hes the greatest clutch quarterback ever. Lets get one thing straight, he still hasn't won a Super Bowl. And when measuring quarterbacks when looking back, thats really all that matters. The Super Bowl is the only big game worth putting on a resume. If Peyton goes out and totally blows this game, he will still be known as a weak player in big games. Bottom line, Peyton Manning hasn't won anything yet.

I agree. Peyton never won the big game in college. He finally got the chance to play in the BIG GAME in the pros. Lucky for him, he is playing a team with a JV offense. Manning only needs to show up in 2 weeks, and the Colts will win in a blow out.

First of all, considering you posted this like a half-hour after the game, I don't think you really have a grasp on how "the entire media" is handling the situation.

Second, your title makes no sense. You're comparing a before and after, it's not like they (whomever "they" is) proclaimed him "the greatest clutch quarterback ever" before the win and then switched back, that would be changing their mind.

Third, no one has called him "the greatest clutch quarterback ever," let alone "the entire media."

Nice paragraph...I agree with CPCP, i don't think anyone has annointed him yet. Is he a good QB, yes. He might even win the SB. But your beef sounds more like you hate Peyton Manning than think he just isn't a big game QB.

Lately, I've noticed that many people question big game QBs and sometimes they take a while to get there. How many times did we question John Elway till he did it (and he really didn't do it till '98, Terrell Davis lead that '97 Squad).

Give this guy credit for making it to the big game and I agree hold the greatest accolades till he wins it all.

First off Marino was the BEST QB in the last 25 years. He was better than Elway, Young, Montana, Manning, Favre, etc. The guy was awesome and didn't win cause he was on the Dolphins. They never had a solid running game and it was all him. He also did this don't forget with small wide receivers- remember Duper? If this guy had Jerry Rice- forget about it!!! I would take Dan Marino over any QB on any team in any era.

But anytime you talk about Marino, there is that "Yeah, But he never won the big game" that you can't avoid. Same goes for manning right now. If he wins one, then he is Elway, the guy who has the Stats and managed to pick up a ring or 2. He still won't draw the Montana Comparison that Brady Does

and i will tell you what, the Bears with that strong defense might just beat the Colts anyway. The Bears offense is good enough and Grossman doesn't make many mistakes. Their running game is good and should be strong enough to go through the Colts defense. It will be interesting, but I like the Bears in this one- Sorry Manning.

Grossman doesn't make many mistakes? He doesn't throw the ball as often as most QBs, yet he was ranked third in the league with 20 interceptions this year. Seems like he has made his fair share of mistakes.

I agree, Grossman makes some dumb errors. I think it should be "if" grossman doesn't make any mistakes, does enough to keep the secondary honest and the running game does above average, the bears will win (assuming the defense plays as usual).
