McNabb Tears ACL, Is Done For The Season

Donovan McNabb is hauled off the field after tearing his right ACL

Some bad news from today's Titans-Eagles game: Donovan McNabb, who was enjoying one of his best seasons thus far in 2006, tore his ACL after being pushed out of bounds by Kyle Vanden Bosch in the second quarter of Philly's loss. The play seemed harmless enough, but McNabb immediately grabbed his right knee, and had to be taken off the field on a cart. He will require surgery on the knee, and will be sidelined for 8-12 months, meaning that he'll miss the entire rest of this season, and a few games in 2007.

The Eagles dropped to 5-5 with their 31-13 loss to Tennessee, and backup QB Jeff Garcia will be forced to lead the team for the rest of the year.

Yep. That happened at roughly the 50 yard line on the Titans side of the field. My seat is at the goalline on the Eagles side. I knew it was not good when I saw Titans coaches waiving over the Eagles training staff. And then they brought out the cart, I knew the season was over. And as a special bonus, the two guys who normally sit behind me sold their tickets to a young couple, one where the girl started crying in the 1st half and then began cursing her previous relationship with some other guy. I'll tell you, this was the worse game I have ever been to at the Linc.

Man the Eagles season just fell apart right around them. Least that cant blame the failures of this season on TO

Actually, I think the TO signing was a pact with the Devil to make the Super Bowl, and now the Eagles are paying for it - for years to come.

I'm sorry, but people need to stop blaming TO for the eagles having a crappy season.

That's a real shame. As a Cowboys fan, I hate the Eagles. But I've always liked and respected McNabb. He keeps getting hurt. I really hope he can recover from this and make it back onto the field next year. I also hope he won't rush himself the way Carson Palmer did.

ACL injuries can be career-ending for QB's. They're never the same if they can't fully recover and get their full throwing motion back. Mark Brunell is one example. Daunte Culpepper is another. The Eagles would be wise to draft a good QB next season, because McNabb might be done.

Good thing I traded for McNabb in my fantasy league last week. Well, now it's Philip Rivers' turn to take me to the championship.
