Ozzie Guillen and the Sox; I'm getting sick of the Guillen bashing and the Bandwagon Junkies!
We will all see Ozzie Guillen manage the American League at this year’s All Star Game, and not to mention he is going to probably be the most interesting coach in the history of this match up. Not to mention he will be the first Venezuelan to take on this feat. GO OZ!
The thing about Guillen is, he doesn't much care about the general perception of him as long as his baseball team is playing the right way. He is a breath of managerial fresh air, and a success, to boot. The All-Star Game is a genuinely important event to baseball fans, a traditional pause in the regular action in which individual greatness in a collective effort is honored. But that doesn't mean it couldn't use a few laughs, especially if the Home Run Derby lasts for five hours again. Go get 'em, Ozzie. ~Mike Bauman national columnist for MLB.com.
The guy can coach and does he have a personality to go along with it. For most of the season last year the White Sox where playing the best baseball you NEVER saw in your life. Nobody was showing up to games. Nobody was even talking about them. So many empty seats. It would be different if it were Tampa Bay or some team doing badly. But leading your division and having to play to a half empty stadium. Then to make matters worse. On the other side of town people are packing the house to watch a team lose. That has to hurt a little.
Remember that play some time in the 80's when a batter lost his bat on a swing and it went flying over by short. It landed in front of Guillen and began rolling. Guillen "fielded it" jokingly and pretended he was going to throw it to first. People thought that was really funny. But tainted with controversy, with people asking "why?".
I guess you can say he’s a coach…a great coach and has a flair about him that is getting people out to the ball park. And I am not talking about the bandwagon junkies that can’t find a Sox shirt in their closet from before 2005. Finally getting the real White Sox fans that have always been fans to get out to the ball park more. That’s what I’m talking about. Nothing pisses me off more than going to the game and sitting next to some guy wearing a Konerko jersey and talking about the Cubs game yesterday.
The Oz has brought up the team and that's great...The team along with Ozzie has brought back the fans...BUT-The Bandwagon crashed...we appreciate your business but talk to me when you can name more than 5 players not including Ozzie (He's not a player!). You can come to the games, root for the team, but don't tell me all those years you were always rooting for the White Sox. I know where you were; sitting at a bar on Clark St. drinking beer before the Cubs game.
