Max Runager (Max Culp Runager) was born on March 24, 1956 in Greenwood, South Carolina. After going to high school at Wilkinson (Orangeburg, SC), Runager attended the University of South Carolina. Runager made his professional debut in the NFL in 1979 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that 1985 was Max Runager's best year, as he dropped 30 punts inside the 20.
