Maury Bodenger (Morris Bodenger) was born on July 31, 1909 in New Orleans, Louisiana. After going to high school at Gulf Coast Military Academy and Jackson (New Orleans, LA), Bodenger attended Tulane University. Bodenger made his professional debut in the NFL in 1931 with the Portsmouth Spartans. He played for the Portsmouth Spartans and Detroit Lions over the course of his 4 year career.
