Maurice Van Robays (Maurice Rene Van Robays) was born on November 15, 1914 in Detroit, Michigan. He made his Major League debut on September 7, 1939 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1940, his rookie year, he hit .273 with 11 home runs and 116 RBI. Van Robays played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for his entire 6 year career.

Most people believe that Maurice Van Robays's best season was 1940, when he knocked in 116 runs.
