Maurice was selected 1st overall in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto F.C. The midfielder completed a very successful first year in the league and his efforts were capped by being awarded the 2007 MLS Rookie of the Year award.
Prior to joining Toronto he played his college soccer at the University of Maryland. He played three years at Maryland and was named a First Team All-American for 2006.
Maurice earned his first cap for US Men's National Team on October 17, 2007 when he debuted in a friendly versus Switzerland.
Edu flew to Glasgow, Scotland on August 16, 2008 to hold transfer talks with Scottish club Rangers. A transfer fee of £2.6 million was agreed upon with MLS thereby allowing Edu to join Rangers once his work permit was approved. Edu subsequently debuted for Rangers on September 13, 2008 in a league match versus Kilmarnock.
