CAREER: Tall and versatile sophomore who gained valuable experience blocking on the placekicking unit in 2006...Versatile player who can play center, guard or tackle...Will compete for more playing time this year, with hopes of moving into the starting lineup down the road...Smart, hard-working lineman who is strong and quick...Has a big frame and long arms to help him excel at pass blocking...Very muscular for his size and has good mobility...Biology major and plans to become a radiologist.

2006 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Played in the final 12 games of the season in the first action of his collegiate career...Saw limited duty at guard in three games and blocked on the placekicking unit in 12 games...Did not play in the season opener vs. Florida State, then saw action in 12 straight games...In his first collegiate game against Florida A&M, played on the placekicking unit and saw some reserve duty at left guard in the second half...Saw action at left guard for the final series against North Carolina...Played right guard for the final series in the FIU game.

2005 (REDSHIRT): Did not play but practiced with the scout team...Received a redshirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Named first-team All-Elite State as a senior, which includes all classifications in Iowa...Played defensive end as well, totaling 50 tackles and seven sacks...As a junior, was an All-State Class 3A first-team selection...Played tight end as a sophomore, when he was named All-District before moving to the offensive line...Had two touchdown receptions that year while showing his ability as a blocker...Also played some defensive end...Also participated in track and basketball...First player in his town (population 2,500) to attend a Division I-A program...Rated as the No. 38 offensive tackle prospect in the nation by Rivals.com...Chose Miami over Stanford...Coached by Matt Hubbard...Last name pronounced: PEE-po.
