[edit] Biography

Matt Kemp (Matthew Ryan Kemp) was born on September 23, 1984 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He made his Major League debut on May 28, 2006 for the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2006, his rookie year, he hit .253 with 7 home runs and 23 RBI. Kemp played for the Los Angeles Dodgers for his entire 1 year career. In his second season Kemp responded brilliantly to the seeming "rookie wall" of his first season as he hit .342 with 10 HR and 42 RBI's in only 98 games of limited action. Was involved in a well publicized club house feud and divide between veterans and young players at the end of last year which led to to an embarrassing September collapse for the former first place team. Was heavily sought after in trade discussions throughout the off-season until management apparently made the decision to move ahead in their youth movement with him as a central piece.

[edit] Scouting Report

Hands down the best power hitting prospect the Dodgers have developed since a group that included Mike Piazza, Raul Mondesi and Eric Karros. Has an absolute cannon for an arm. Has some definite baserunning issues. Most Major League scouts see him as a 30 HR 30 steal guy with MVP and All Star potential. A player to keep your eye on.
