Matt Kelsch (Matthew Leroy Kelsch) was born on October 4, 1904 in Dougherty, Iowa. After going to high school at Columbia Academy (Mason City, IA), Kelsch attended the University of Iowa. Kelsch made his professional debut in the NFL in 1930 with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers for his entire 1 year career.
