Matt Batts (Matthew Daniel Batts) was born on October 16, 1921 in San Antonio, Texas. He made his Major League debut on September 10, 1947 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1949, his rookie year, he hit .242 with 3 home runs and 31 RBI. Batts played for the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Browns, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 9 year career.
Most people believe that Matt Batts's best season was 1953, when he hit for a .278 average.
