Matadome

Matadome is a 1,600-seat multi-purpose arena in Northridge, California. It's official name is Matador Gym, and it is housed inside of Redwood Hall. It is home to the California State University, Northridge Matadors basketball and volleyball teams, as well as hosting numerous kinesiology classes. It was built in 1963. It hosted the 2001 Big Sky Conference men's basketball tournament.

Prior to the Northridge Earthquake in 1994, the Matadome had a capacity of over 3,000. The attendance record for the arena was 3,106, for a U.S. men's volleyball National Team match prior to the earthquake. Following the quake, the upper section seats were removed to create more classroom space, and walls were put up to separate the Matadome from the new classrooms.

The Matadome was used as a setting in the films The Karate Kid (1984) and Van Wilder (2002).

Redwood Hall and the Matadome have a flat roof, and thus do not actually qualify as a dome.
